Wow! review by Brian on 1/19/2018
I was in a shoe store and overheard a customer talking to a salesperson, "These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned!" He was talking about an older pair of the Men's Journey Mesh shoes and in the process of purchasing a new pair.
So, I asked the salesperson if I could try them on.
OMG, I'm 58 years old and I've never had an "experience" with a shoe. I left them on my feet, asked the salesperson the whereabouts of a garbage can for the old shoes I was wearing, paid (happily), and skipped out of the store.
These shoes are amazingly comfortable and supportive. Hard to find, but even harder to find when you have a wide foot like mine.
I rarely write product reviews but felt compelled to write this one.
Oh yeah, made in America too!
Like the Red / Black Journeys review by Leo Mac on 7/2/2017
I have been wearing grey Journey mesh shoes for over 4 years for their comfort. I have purchase the Red / Black now for its stand-out style. I added the Men's Step Plus for additional shock adsorption and arch support because I walk a lot and in my late 70's. This makes a comfortable shoe even more comfortable. The shoes come with back shoestrings and a backup pair in red. My wife and I both like the new zippy color of the Red / Black.

I now own three pairs of Men's Journey Mesh Gray shoes, each bought in successive years. They are so comfortable that I will never again wear another shoe. They hold up extremely well, so well, in fact, that I have written the purchase year with a Sharpie on the tongues so that I can tell them apart. My only problem has been with the middle pair – the laces have “sawn” through the plastic eyes of the top lace holes, and one of the lace hooks has torn loose. In spite of this one problem, these are the best made and most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. (I also have a pair of Men's Journey Black and a pair of Men's Time Out.)

I had foot surgery over a year now. I have a four pairs of shoes that I have bought and can not wear, and many more that I tried on. I now have a pair of these and I am happy to say they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I was not doing some of the things I enjoy because the shoes I had were not comfortable and would hurt my feet after wearing them for awhile. I hope you continue to make this model. I will be looking at dress shoes and deck shoes.
Love these, ~6 years and counting on a pair review by Jeffry on 4/29/2016
I've had a pair of these shoes for about 6 years (I think when they first came out). For almost 5 years I wore them almost every day through every type of weather and job. They were used in rain, snow (slick though), through some mud, doggy landmines, cutting grass, fixing cars and much more. They've been scuffed and scraped from concrete, kicking heavy items, carrying heavy loads, walked in for miles, and have seen all parts of a shoe's worse nightmare.
They are ugly. Some of the white came off of the toe area from kicking rocks and tires, etc. In that same area, one shoe has a hole from something piercing the shoe at some point and growing a tad. Some of the threading on one side of a shoe came loose and that part of the leather is hanging off. Tread is worn down enough that they had to become relegated to dirty work only.
All that said, they are my favorite pair of shoes. They are still very comfortable. If they weren't so darned ugly and tread being worn down, I'd wear them every day because they've only lost their glamour but not all of their function.
I have a pair of Nikes only worn for a month and they look worse than the SAS shoes after 5 years of torment. Even the tread came off/unglue from the bottom of those shoes. I can't believe it.
I've worn other shoes to appease my wife (really, she has more taste than me) because she says I shouldn't wear the SAS shoes anymore to work (office job now). She's probably right, but all other shoes are never as comfortable as these Journeys were on Day 1.
SAS Shoes for life for me. I'm finally going to get another pair now that there is an online store! YAY!
Professor review by DENNIS on 3/18/2016
I have 4 pair of these shoes (and a 5th pair in black for dress wear) -- because they are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. A 56 year old college professor and a 30 year insulin dependent diabetic, my long-term health depends on my ability to stay active through daily exercise -- including walking. These shoes fit like a glove (I wear a size 12 wide) and I feel like I am walking on pillows. I have been wearing nothing but SAS shoes for the last decade and have none of the foot issues that long-term diabetics typically experience. Thanks SAS!
Quality, comfort, and fit are very important to SAS. Because of this, we always recommend being fitted for SAS shoes at one of our retail stores whenever possible. Our in-store fittings include the use of The Brannock Device to get an indication of proper size. A shoe is not ‘fitted’ until it is placed on the foot, but the fitting process can begin with this device. Size is first measured heel to toe, then the arch measurement is taken from ball to heel and width measurement is indicated on the outer side of the foot. Both feet are measured and a variety of sizes and widths may be recommended to try before making a final selection.

Tips for Measuring and Fitting
- Remember, when we go up in size, the width may also increase.
- All styles fit differently.
- Many customers may require doctor recommended orthotics. Inserts may require added depth in the shoe and make it fit differently, so try to account for this adjustment.
